Inspector Krishna Mehta's mesh antenna is broken. In a Mumbai where augmented reality overlays every surface, his connection drops out at the worst moments, stranding him in the raw city underneath.

That's when he sees the marks.

Faint shimmers on people's foreheads, invisible to everyone else. When the marked start dying with seizures, brain haemorrhages, no explanation, Krishna traces the pattern to a hospital, a corporate empire, and a technology that shouldn't exist.

There are entities in the mesh that are not human. Entities that threaten everything Krishna doesn't believe in.
